What is Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional therapy focuses on the root cause of particular health problems. This therapy uses exercises for “neuromuscular re-education or re-patterning of the oral and facial muscles .”  It includes exercises and behavior modification to promote proper tongue placement, lip placement, breathing, speaking, chewing, swallowing and posture.

When working together we will focus on making you aware of the placement of the tongue and lips, improving nasal breathing to absorb more oxygen, chewing, swallowing, and proper head and neck postures.

When working with children myofunctional therapy can help prevent future health issues and when working with adults it can help alleviate or improve current health issues.

            • Mild – moderate sleep apnea

            • Snoring

            • Grinding or clenching your teeth

            • Poor digestion

            • Temporal Mandibular Jaw Dysfunction

            • Allergies

            • Frequent choking or gagging

            • Asthma
